STRUCTURAL ENGINEER - Ambler, PA
Precis Engineering + Architecture is seeking a resourceful and goal-oriented structural engineer with 0 to 2 years’ experience who is looking to develop their career in building design. As a member of our team, this individual will:
- Grow their skills by joining a collaborative team of engineers and architects providing award-winning planning design and engineering solutions.
- Deliver build-ready documentation for state-of-the-art structures focused in the hi-tech, life sciences, and other cGMP market spaces, as well as other commercial, industrial, and institutional markets.
- Work closely with senior structural engineers while growing professionally through challenging and exciting projects.
- Conduct work under the direction of the structural department director.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Analyze and design task focused structural solutions for new and existing structures while leveraging hand calculations, design spreadsheets, and computer software.
- Document design of projects using CAD and BIM software.
- Review of structural submittals from contractors during the construction phase of projects to ensure conformance to construction issued structural documentation.
- Coordinate and respond to contractor issued requests for information (RFI’s).
- Perform project site visits throughout all phases of projects (from conceptual design through construction administration). Site visits include visual observations of existing building conditions and/or new construction while keeping organized notes & survey documentation.
The following qualifications are ideal in the preferred candidate:
- Solid foundation in the principles of structural engineering with a demonstrated interest in design of hi-tech building systems and structures.
- Knowledge in structural design and documentation of multiple building materials such as steel, steel bar joists, metal deck, cast-in-place concrete, masonry, and wood.
- Familiarity and ability to navigate MS office products preferred.
- Relevant internship or research experience.
- Excellent written, graphical, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with documentation software, particularly AutoCAD and Revit.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and assignments and adapt to changing needs while maintaining a high standard of excellence, integrity and attention to detail.
- Familiarity of finite element structural design software such as RISA-3D and RAM Elements.
- Familiarity of structural design software like RAM Structural System, Enercalc, TEDDS and Hilti Profis.
- OSHA 10 certification or ability to achieve certification.
- Must have the physical ability to perform the following:
- Operate office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, telephone system and other office equipment.
- Read and understand construction drawings, diagrams, computer screens, or printed material.
- Attend meetings, site visits and other various events.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
- Conduct field surveys and structural inspections and operate survey equipment and instruments.
- Ability to work outside in cold, heat or inclement weather.
- Safely perform inspections via. Ladder or confined space and understand occupational hazards.
- Medically fit to use all forms of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to carry up to 50 lbs.

BS degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering, and minimum EIT certified
