Precis Founding Principal, Bob Dick, PE was recently accepted into the Carpenters’ Company of the City and County of Philadelphia (Carpenters’ Company) as a full member of the organization. He is one of only two mechanical engineers to be inducted into the Company since its inception in 1724.
The Carpenters’ Company is the oldest existing craft association in the United States, dating back 297 years. The Company built, owns, and operates the historic Carpenter's Hall, located in Philadelphia's Independence National Historical Park. In 1774, the Hall served to host the First Congressional Congress. Before a recent change in bylaws, the association consisted only of “master builders", which included architects, contractors, and structural engineers.
Bob co-founded Precis in 2005. He has more than 30 years of industry experience as a mechanical engineer. He is a leader in the design of critical environments, utilities and controls for laboratories, vivariums, sterile and oral solid dosage manufacturing, biotechnology, and in the design of campus utility distribution.
Bob is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE), the Lean Construction Institute. He holds both Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University, and is a registered Professional Engineer in 29 states.
