Posted 2022-01-23 in Press Release

Precis proudly announces that it has merged with Arcus Design Group, an architecture, interiors, and planning firm based in Malvern, Pa. Arcus will provide architectural services under the Precis umbrella with headquarters in Ambler, Pa., and offices in Malvern, Pa., and Cary, N.C. The merger establishes Precis as a comprehensive architecture and engineering practice serving the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, higher education, industrial, commercial, and residential markets.

Since 2005, Precis Engineering has experienced steady growth and expansion of its engineering capabilities, including the 2021 addition of internal process architecture services. Since 1987, Arcus has built a portfolio of repeat client work and amassed numerous design awards for projects in the commercial, biotechnology, and custom residential markets. The two companies have partnered on award-winning work for clients including Morphotek, Dow Chemical, and DSM Biomedical. The merger brings the total staff to 120.

Arcus partners Carl Holden, AIA, LEED AP; Jeffrey Balch, AIA, LEED AP; Paul Salvaggio, AIA, LEED AP; and Kyle Litzke, AIA, LEED AP, have become principals at the combined firm. They join six Precis principals, including Precis founding principal Robert Dick, PE, who remains President and CEO.

“Precis’ ability to provide complete facility design has been our goal since we started the business 17 years ago,” said Dick. “The merger with Arcus adds 30 years of architecture, interior design, and planning expertise to our suite of engineering and process architecture services. Our clients will immediately benefit from our expanded, full-service capabilities, diverse design experience, and depth of resources, including visualization tools to help owners imagine the future of their spaces.”

Both Precis and Arcus emphasize a service-driven approach with engaged principal leadership on every assignment. As past project partners, the two companies’ culture, shared attention to detail, and ability to collaborate effectively have already been proven.

“By joining with Precis, Arcus can ensure the continuity of design and culture, from architecture and planning through engineering and operations,” explained Holden. “Together, we remain committed to providing creative design and service with a personalized, detail-oriented, and budget-responsive approach. More importantly, the merger will shape our projects with enhanced levels of innovation and collaboration.”
