Arbutus Biopharma relocated its North American Research and Development headquarters to a new facility in Warminster, PA. The new facility includes 35,000 square feet of offices and lab space to accommodate the emerging biotech company’s expanding operations. Precis provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering while working closely with key personnel from the owner, architect, and construction manager during the design/build and construction administration phases.
  
The design includes separate but adjacent chemistry and biology labs that allow the scientists to work closely while maintaining the necessary procedural separation. The biology labs are designed to Bio-Safety Level 2 guidelines.

Precis Design Highlights:

• Higher-capacity water, natural gas, and power utility services.
• New air handling units, exhaust fans, hot water boilers, data center unit, associated ductwork and piping distribution, and a sophisticated building automation system to support the new laboratories and offices.
• A new emergency generator.
• Lighting, power and data distribution, and fire alarm devices.
• Centralized water purification, air compressor, and laboratory gas manifolds.

Construction was completed on schedule in Spring of 2017.
