Precis was the design engineer for the installation of an Emerson Grind2Energy System at Merck’s Upper Gwynedd, PA campus. The purpose of the Grind2Energy (G2E) program is to divert some of Merck’s kitchen waste from the landfill to be converted to energy. The system consists of a processing table with grinder pump, transfer pump, 3,000-gallon storage tank, and interconnecting piping and wiring. Precis was responsible for the following:

• Designing the power for system including power vent fan for the tank.
• Documenting T/D outlet for IoT capability
• Documenting interconnecting wiring between the sink controller and the 3,000-gallon storage tank.
• Preparing low pressure device calculation report.
• Documenting cold water for the processing table sink.
• Confirming that the tank can be brought into the building.
• Detailing wall penetrations.
• Documenting the tank power vent fan.
